I got 99 problems, and WP is every single one of them

Hopefully, today’s post is released on time. Smh 😒

So, WordPress. Big ole community filled with some pretty amazing people that makes up a wholesome community. One of the most preferred blogging sites many people go to for creating a blog. Multiple customizable themes and some pretty good plans to take your blog/website a step further. In short: it’s a good site with pretty easy features for the average Joe. So……it seems like a perfectly good place, right?

Well, not so much. As of late, I’ve been having a couple of issues regarding WordPress (mainly because it keeps screwing up my publishing schedule, but we’ll get to it soon), and no: I’m not quitting WP, I can assure y’all that 1000%. It’s just that I’d like to rant about a couple of ways WP loves to annoy me, no matter how small or silly they may be. Note that these are my opinions on these issues, and if you’d like to share some things that bug you: please do comment below. I’d like to hear your thoughts on this subject!

Okay, so……without any further ado, let the ranting commence.

#1. “The early bird catches the worm”?

Yup, that’s my biggest issue with WP right now.

When I first looked at the “Scheduled Posts” category, I thought this would be a great idea to release posts at a specific time rather than publishing ish immediately. So, for a solid 2 years, I’ve stuck with this and it went well……………until very recently, that is. See, my posts are generally published at 7:30 AM IST, and WP has managed to release posts at this time (even if it’s just a few minutes late) like 95% of the time. But now, it’s got this urge to post ish like literally 2-3 hours late : even though I make it very clear that I want it to be done at 7:30. But no matter how many times I’ve done that, it’s like, “Lol, nope. Imma do whatever I want just to troll you”.

What is even the purpose of you having a LITERAL scheduling option then, huh?!

#2. Comments, in general:

The other thing that bugs me a lot about WP is how it even handles comments in general. This is an issue I’m sure a majority of us have faced at some point or the other. Hold on, lemme explain what exactly am I talking about. I’m talking about the sorting comments and the notifications feature as well.

So, there’s this sorting feature which just filters your comments, i.e, regular vs spam. Sometimes, WP just oh so casually manages to throw some general comments in with the spam folder. There are some other times where the whole notifications system regarding certain comments is broken. It kind of acts like the McDonald’s ice cream machine, I suppose 😅

It’s not that a biggie for me most of the time, but I thought I had to put it out there since this is a pretty common issue most of us face, and most of us rant about.

#3. The editor (app version) :

Aah, WP editor. Where do I even begin with you? I personally prefer the web version as it’s easier to do ish, but the mobile version? Nah, nah, we don’t talk about that: especially when it comes to story posts.

Doesn’t matter if you have an Apple or Android or whatever OS you have, editing ish on the WP app is just too much (how many times did I use the acronym WP? Idk, really). I’ll spare you the details regarding this, and say that it’s wack times 9000, especially when you need to insert a gif, the bold/italics option, or a spacer. Sometimes, it just happens to oh so casually freeze every now and then when you’re trying to type a paragraph, or it sometimes lags when you try to type a list in the post.

Yeah…………….there’s nothing more I need to explain other than the fact that it’s just wack in the app version instead of the web version.

Well, that’s all I have to complain about WP for now. Feel free to drop in more complains in the comments and don’t forget to like and share this post, and stay tuned for more in the future.

Until then, fellow readers! SS is out for now.
