Technically I started this blog on March 31st, 2020; but it’s never too early to celebrate, right?
Time sure flies quickly now, doesn’t it? It seems like only yesterday that I decided to start a blog after my 10th board exams were suspended, and now look at how far my blog has come: we’re so close to hitting half a millennium! I’m in awe that my baby blog has managed to become successful over a span of a year, which is still going strong in the current year as well. Now I can successfully cross out an item from my bucket list.
Blogging in the past year has benefited me in several ways: the most prominent one being my writing skills, and I’m glad to have chosen this activity as a hobby. It’s also enabled me to meet many people with similar interests, and read some of their own experiences/pieces; and the overall environment in WordPress screams “energetic and cringe free”, which made it easier for me to socialize with everyone without any hesitation.
But this milestone wouldn’t be possible without you guys: so a huge kudos to every single one of you (irrespective of whether you stayed from the beginning or recently joined the gang). Despite all the ups and downs of this journey and the writer’s/artist’s block that haunted me: your love, support and encouragement pushed me to keep going forward. I’m happy with the positive and engaging reception on this blog, and I simply can’t thank y’all enough. You guys are epic in you own way!! 🤗❤
Secondly, I’d like to thank my non blogger friends and my parents for giving me all the encouragement and support to build this blog: especially my mom. Her sound advice on building a name with patience is what stuck with me in the long run, which also helped in growing my blog. Now that I look back at my 1st day of blogging, I’m glad that I didn’t delete my blog and chose to stick to this platform.
If you ask me, the most enjoyable part of blogging is writing just to express yourself or showcase your hidden talents, and connecting with fellow members of the blog-osphere. Don’t start a blog just for the sake of sky high stats or 15 minutes of fame: start a blog because you’re genuinely interested in committing to a fun hobby and you want to present your talents/interests to the world. Don’t go chasing that “magic” view/follower count number, since that’ll instantly kill your mojo for blogging and you’ll slowly grow to resent it. Oh, and don’t expect things to be handed to you on a platter: be patient, get out there and socialize with other bloggers! Blogging is a two way street, and it takes time to build it. With enough nurturing and a good and a genuine audience, you’ll be smooth sailing in no time. But remember to be nice and avoid being catty: no one tolerates hate comments and fakery.
