An Ironic World

Disclaimer: This is NOT a poem, but is a random musing I came up with. This post also contains few dark themes, so for younger audiences: read it at your own risk.

In a world that stresses on individuality, why are there several mannequins manufactured?

In a world that promotes creativity, why are the dreamers and inventors mocked?

In a world that emphasizes on environmental conservation, how is it that our world runs on greed and materialism?

In a world that preaches moral values and modesty, how is it that your industries thrive on sex?

In a world that condemns injustice and bigotry, who takes home the trophy of hypocrisy?

In a world where the most “humane” species exist, then why do animals cower in fear when we are near?

In a world where the police are sworn to protect, then why do people want you behind bars?

In a world that raises awareness on diseases and disabilities, then explain the increase in the number of the ostracized!

In a world that has endless career opportunities, why is there a spike in student suicides?

In a world that grants freedom of speech, why is it muzzled when it comes to big names?

In a world that promises safety and security, how are we so sure that we’re not being secretly monitored?

The world promises us the whole truth, but are we living in an illusion? We sure live in an ironic world now, don’t we?

I’ll let you guys guess what theme each paragraph deals with (which are highlighted in bold); and if you’d like to see more posts like these, then click this link. Until then, fellow readers!

  1. There is a huge difference between reality and what those in charge will have you believe is reality. As a history major I know that this has always been the way it is and it is not until the masses realise that they are living a lie that change can occur.

  2. A ship floats on a sea of water, but only sinks when the water enters it. Similarly, we live in a world crafted of hatred and greed. We’ll only drown if we let it get to us.

  3. Love this post! “In a world that has endless career opportunities, why is there a spike in student suicides?” Indeed, you will know that there is something wrong in the world when all you see are bad news and bad things happening, and everything just seems that they are getting worse. I hope for the best, always.
