He sat all alone in his dimly lit room; which blocked the never ending bickering of his parents. He absolutely loathed every minute of their fight; it was a never ending cycle of insults and shouts thrown at each other, which was followed by a very petty truce. No matter how many times he tried to persuade them to stop fighting, they would only assure him that everything was fine, and that he had nothing to worry about.
The chirping of birds brought him out of his thoughts, and he looked at the gloomy and overcast sky, through his window. While the sky looked dull, the birds soared through it without a single care. How free they were to roam around, and conquer the world; and here he was, trapped in this hellhole like a caged bird.
“If only I could be as free as them…..”, he sighed dejected.
This was written in response to the “Thursday Photo Prompt Challenge” hosted by Sue Vincent, who runs the blog “The Daily Echo”. I tried to write something that was a bit tragic; and surprisingly it came out great! Hope you enjoyed reading this, and I’ll see you on Friday. Until then, fellow readers!

This is so well written and such an amazing response to the prompt! It kind of reminded me of “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou.
